Lucy Smith sings! She’s been a part of Chicago’s music scene for many years. As leader/arranger for the Lucy Smith Quartet/Quintet and as singer/songwriter for the jazz-infused Passing For Normal, Lucy has led a myriad of musical combinations exploring the worlds of traditional jazz and blues and other popular music. She was lead vocalist for the Center for Black Music Research’s Stop-Time Ensemble and was producer/host for SundaySongs, an original music showcase at the HotHouse. Her other projects included the tribute project Zenesy, and she was the lead vocalist for the Concord Orchestra. Lucy has performed in many Chicago area venues including the Park West, House of Blues, Martyrs, HotHouse, Pete Miller’s, Regal Theatre, Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre, DuSable Museum, Chicago Cultural Center, Speakeasy Supperclub, Elbo Room, and area festivals including Taste of Chicago and Evanston’s Lakeshore Arts Festival.
Chicago-based jazz vocalist Lucy Smith is both a talented songwriter and a gifted interpreter of other people's songs. Smith’s originals…are truly inspired and deserve to be heard by everyone.
